the day off
Sort of got the day off today - though I did have stuff to do, an appointment, making up a CV for Mum, looking at lots of websites. A little cleaning and tidying. The usual. Still haven't started making the bunny yet. I can see the fabric sitting just. over. there. Still have the latest issue of Notebook to read too, oh and after visiting over the weekend - must add - I could live at Wheel & Barrow. Love it that much. So many purty things ... PS I am aware the octopus has 9 arms. Some may call it an inability to count. I call it artistic licence.
lazy
Got up so late today, it was half over before it began.
M is just cooking up some tea - lamb kebabs with salad. He is a great cook, and one day, when we buy a digital camera, I'll be able to photo-log his cooking exploits. He is quite the Jamie Oliver (and cute to boot!).
Meanwhile, we've been enjoying some Autumn fruits of late, like delicious golden pears.
Autumn is such a comfortable time of year, it really has a 'nesting' feeling about it and so enjoying a good book or two makes me cheerful. Yesterday during our weekly shop M and I stopped into Borders to choose a couple of things and two books caught my eye. I have a bit of a Jane Austen hankering at the moment - nice gentle stories before sleep are the best! So I am re-reading Northanger Abbey, and also picked up The Jane Austen Book Club. Will let you know how I go with them.
paisley days
Why is it so hard to choose fabric? I have a whole draw of the stuff but can't bear parting with it, particularly the Amy Butler in it's neat little squares. Is that crazy? I wonder, do any of you have that same problem?

At least the bunny knows what he wants.
almost over easter
Well it's been and should be gone but somehow, in the form of chocolate, keeps on going. That's right, M and I are still ploughing through the eggs we received from each other and in the mail. It's hard to be healthy when there is so much temptation about ... and I just picked up another package at the Post Office which will doubtless contain a bunny of the cocoa variety. Ahh, packages! It's a lovely thrill to find an orange mail stub in the box, with 'You Have Mail' printed on the top.
I was also very lucky to receive a very cute pair of Peter Alexander pyjamas (in this delightful pear pattern) from my Mum, and a delicious gift certificate for Borders from my brother. I am rubbing my hands together with glee over what I might purchase - we loves our bookstores, we do. Read any good books lately?
The approaching cooler weather is really making my craft clock tick - deciding what charming goodies I could cook up over the next few weeks. I am thinking that bunnies fit the season so perhaps some more of the softie variety might make an appearance. Speaking of bunnies, I am loving Carly's Mini-Moopy's - I must get one of those patterns.
a little bit cheery
Welcome, to the new and improved Button!

I have to admit, I have been inspired to change the look of Button by the cover of the latest issue of Inside Out magazine. It's pretty much my favourite home style mag and definitely one that I will always have out on display. Don't you just love good design? It has a nice interview with a favourite kid's fashion designer of mine, Fiona Scanlan, too. She has a lovely home.
This year has been an interesting one so far. A few ups, a few downs, a lot of inbetweens. For those of you who don't know me personally, I have struggled with eczema (a particularly nasty skin condition) for the last 10 or so years. It has a habit of flaring up and becoming the bane of my existence. It really gets me down, and the last year-ish had been pretty bad. Luckily, I have a management program that really seems to work, so I am back to normal (with lovely skin and all) and looking forward to what seems like a fresh start. Hooray for antibiotics. What did we ever do without them!
So it's all systems go. That and I am turning 30 soon. Very soon. Too soon! I have no idea really what I am going to do, other than it means returning to Adelaide for a visit with family and friends. I wonder what the 30's will be like? If anyone has wise words for a soon-to-be 30 person, let me have it.
